Dr. Tanuja Mallik—Renowned Liver Transplant Anaesthesia Specialist
With years of experience in high-risk medical settings, Dr Tanuja Mallik has become a leading figure in liver transplant anesthesiology. Her unwavering commitment to patient safety, innovation, and superior anesthesiology care has contributed to countless successful liver transplant surgeries, ensuring patients receive expert support when they need it most.
Her connection with patients and caregivers goes beyond the operating table or ICU rounds. It’s rooted in her deep passion for what I do. I don’t just monitor vitals—I pay attention to the human being behind the numbers. My greatest sense of satisfaction comes not from completing a procedure, but from seeing someone regain their life, their strength, and their smile. That’s the heartbeat of my practice and now, the soul of everything I create digitally.
🩺 Why LiverTransplantHelp.com Exists
LiverTransplantHelp.com was created to bridge the gap between hospital discharge and the realities of real-life recovery. After a liver transplant, patients step into a “new normal” — one filled with doubts, questions, and a deep need for ongoing support. But constant access to doctors at home isn’t real.
This platform exists to ensure that patients and caregivers don’t feel lost or alone in that phase.
Whether it’s a question about medications, a symptom that’s causing concern, or just a need for clarity and reassurance, this is a place to turn back, revisit, and re-understand what’s happening — on your terms, in your time.
Here, you’ll find:
- Simple, trustworthy content rooted in medical expertise
- Community spaces to share and connect
- 1:1 consultations when personalised guidance is needed
- Resource materials to support informed, confident healing
At its heart, LiverTransplantHelp.com is about continuity of care beyond the hospital walls — making recovery smoother, safer, and clearer. Because healing doesn’t end at discharge — it evolves every day.
My Journey into Liver Transplant Care

Liver transplant isn’t just a medical field I chose, it’s a part of who I am. My father, Dr. Kameshwar Nath Mallik, was a liver transplant surgeon himself. The term “liver transplant” holds deep emotional and professional meaning for me because it always connects me back to him. It’s not just a speciality, it’s a legacy.
🌟 In Tribute to My Father, Dr. K.N. Mallik

A scientist. A liver transplant surgeon. An innovator, an Industrialist.
My father, Dr. K.N. Mallik, lived a life devoted to science, medicine, and invention. His work spanned across liver transplantation, physics, energy conservation, and industrial innovation — a legacy that continues to inspire me every day of my life.
🧪 Love for Physics & Science
Physics was his first love, and he often described it as the guiding light of his life.
His scientific curiosity stretched far beyond medicine, leading him into research on energy preservation and innovations in industrial applications.
🩺 1980s: Pioneering Liver Preservation
At PGI Chandigarh, with colleagues like Dr. I.C. Pathak and Dr. S.K. Mitra, he researched canine liver preservation.
Breakthrough: Developed cold flushing and freezing techniques to preserve liver grafts for 4–20 hours — a remarkable achievement at the time.
Impact: Even today, liver preservation relies on the same principle of flushing and cooling grafts, though with modern solutions like the UW solution. His research was among the first steps toward making liver transplantation possible.
My father contributed to the study of lymphatic–venous communication in the terminal ileum, something he once shared with me through a slide presentation when I was a child—a memory that has remained etched in my mind as a part of his scientific legacy.
⚡ Innovator in Energy & Industry
Founded Mallik’s Synpyrol Synthetic Fuel Pvt. Ltd.
Synpyrol Technology: Converted waste materials (paper, leaves, agricultural residue, city waste) into electricity and cooking gas.
This innovation was so impactful that it was raised in government discussions for testing and commercial viability by national laboratories.
Other Inventions:
- Faecksol – designed to improve the efficiency of petroleum and petrochemical fuels.
- Synpyrol – pioneering synthetic fuel from waste (electricity + cooking gas).
- Power Pot – a device created to reduce electricity consumption and provide backup power during outages.
🌍 A Life of Recognition & Awards
Received multiple national and international awards for his contributions.
Remembered not just as a liver transplant surgeon but as a scientist and visionary who worked at the crossroads of medicine, physics, and energy innovation.
🌿 A Legacy I Carry Forward Though he is no more, I remain forever proud to be his daughter. His legacy lives not only in all his children but also in the work he left behind — for future researchers, innovators, and all those who believe in serving humanity through science.
By what I truly believe was destiny, on the very first day of my post-graduation at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, one of India’s largest liver transplant centres, I was posted in the liver donor operating room. That was the beginning of a journey that would grow in ways I never imagined.

As I completed my post-graduation in anaesthesiology, I was guided by someone who became one of the most influential mentors in my life, Dr. Purnima Dhar, Senior Consultant, Liver Transplant Anaesthesia. I didn’t just learn critical care and advanced anaesthesia from her, I learned wisdom, empathy, and integrity. She is the one who recommended me to Dr. Subhash Gupta, one of the pioneer liver transplant surgeon in India, for a lead position in his Liver Transplant ICU. That opportunity shaped the direction of my career.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the finest liver transplant teams across leading hospitals. I’ve witnessed the incredible transformation of this field, from cases where we needed over 100 units of blood products to today’s bloodless transplants with exceptional outcomes and precision.

A pivotal moment in my career came when Dr Vivek Vij, a brilliant and artistic liver transplant surgeon with a calm leadership style, entrusted me with the role of leading the liver transplant anaesthesia and critical care team at Fortis Hospital. Working with him has been one of the most fulfilling chapters of my professional journey, and I will always remain grateful for that trust.
Today, my mission has extended beyond hospital walls. Through this platform, I aim to support liver transplant patients, caregivers, and families with honest guidance, rooted in clinical expertise, and offered with compassion.
A Critical Care Specialist in Liver Transplantation

Each one of them holds a special place in my heart. With every consultant, there is a story, a lesson, and a legacy that I carry with me—lessons that are not just clinical but profound. Together, they form a collective encyclopedia of wisdom, precision, ethics, and grace in practice.
I feel incredibly blessed to have trained under such extraordinary teachers. Everything I do today—as an anaesthetist, as a critical care specialist, and as a mentor to others—is deeply rooted in the values and teachings they passed on to me.
To be a part of their academic lineage is one of the greatest honours of my life.
